It can be difficult to get dinner on the table in a timely manner when you have kids who want you to build legos with them. Pair that with a non-existent dinner plan, and more often that not, dinnertime becomes stressful, a disaster, or both. This was the case for Bianca, but being the Kitchen Hero that she is, she figured out what she needed to make cooking less of a pain and more of a gain. No more crossing fingers and hoping things just work for this Kitchen Hero! Read how Bianca was able to produce more successes in the kitchen and spend more time with her family with her Hero in the Kitchen story below.

Name: Bianca Beadling
Age: 34
City, State: Miami, FL
I cook for: my husband, my two kiddos (ages 2 and 5) and for myself!
Outside of the kitchen I: used to design buildings, now I build them with legos! I am a stay-at-home mom of two incredible kids and a room parent for my son’s preschool classroom. I enjoy yoga, all things DIY and spending time with my hubby.
The most important thing in my life is: my family.
I cook because: good health is important to me. I want to be able to teach my kids not only how to cook a wholesome meal, but to show them that it can be fun too!
Favorite Cook Smarts meal so far: Oh wow, that’s a tough question! Well, I hadn’t ever cooked a frittata before so I think the Parmesan Leek and Cauliflower Frittata will always be a favorite of mine since it opened up a whole world of frittatas to me!

HOW DID YOU LEARN TO COOK?

I learned about new foods and eating healthy when I subscribed to a produce buying club. That exposed me to lots of new produce that I hadn’t tried before. But as far as cooking . . . I really didn’t learn to cook until I came across Cook Smarts. Prior to that, I just followed recipes and crossed my fingers! Now, I understand the basics and the process much better.

WHAT’S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST COOKING CHALLENGE?

Juggling two kids while prepping and cooking dinner. Getting them involved with prepping helps!

“Now, I have a delicious meal plan each week, an easy trip to the grocery store, and dinner on the table at a consistent time every night. Cook Smarts has saved my sanity and my budget!”

HOW HAS YOUR COOKING ROUTINE CHANGED SINCE STARTING COOK SMARTS’ MEAL PLANS?

My cooking routine has changed so much since starting Cook Smarts! Now, I spend 2 minutes selecting which version of the meals I want to make and checking off the ingredients I already have on-hand. I used to spend hours planning meals that were not cohesive, like I’d have to buy so many different ingredients because it was too complicated to match recipes that I’d found online with others that shared the same ingredients, and forget about trying to plan for reusing a portion of one meal to complete another meal. It took so much time and was wasting food and money.

Then, there were the times I’d just try wing-it . . . that was always a disaster and caused so much stress each evening. Now, I have a delicious meal plan each week, an easy trip to the grocery store, and dinner on the table at a consistent time every night. Cook Smarts has saved my sanity and my budget!

Tell us about your proudest kitchen moment.

Honestly, I feel proud every night when I cook a delicious meal for my family. I had always felt like a part of the kind of mom I wanted to be was missing until I learned how to put good, healthy meals on the table with ease. I am proud to be able to do this for my kids and husband! It’s these little everyday moments like our family dinners that my kids will remember as a big part of their childhood.

What are your tips for health and success in the kitchen?

Plan ahead, prep early if you can and keep junk out of the house.
