I didn’t grow up in a house with a backyard. I grew up in a small Bethesda, Maryland apartment where we had a little balcony that my grandma would pan-fry fish on during the summers. I liked growing up in a small space, but I dreamt of having a backyard for just one reason: I wanted a space to grill some day (something you really can’t do on an apartment balcony). This little cooking dream came true last year when my husband and I bought our first home in Mountain View, California.
I started my research right after we moved in. My husband of course was pushing for the cheapest grill; I of course wanted something a little fancier. After a convincing presentation, we sprung for the Weber’s Genesis model, and I’ve loved using it over the last year. Grilling has been such a fun way to cook during the summer. I’ve gotten flavors from the hot temperatures of a grill that I just wouldn’t be able to in the oven and definitely not on our electric stovetop. It’s opened up a whole new world of cooking for me, and I want to help all you ladies out there do the same.
In most homes, the grill is the domain of the man. I think this mostly happens because men love their gadgets and things that make fire. Luckily, we’re entering modern times, and ladies, there is no reason you can’t “woman” the grill. Since I made this purchase from Amazon and assembled it myself (It took me 3 hours and one call to Weber’s very responsive customer service – photos above), I’ve proudly grilled a lot of delicious meals on it. If little ol’ me can do it, I have complete confidence that you can too. So gals, push those men aside and slap on your cutest apron and brightest lipstick and go grill like the awesome girl you are. If you’re still hesitant, see this how to use a gas grill video below (which also includes some great grilling tips):
