Jessie: Helping Her Family Discover New & Healthy Dinners
“As a mom of young children, it is important to me to foster healthy eating habits as well as an interest in a variety of food.”
Jessie’s been on a mission to vary up her dinner menu and show her two girls and husband that healthy can taste delicious! Along the way, this all-star mom and wife is rediscovering her love of cooking. Read her Hero in the Kitchen story below:

How did you learn to cook?
I started cooking while living in NYC. The food scene is so amazing there, and there is such an abundance and availability of fresh ingredients that it inspired me to start cooking.
What’s been your biggest kitchen challenge?
I tend to get stuck in a cooking rut and make the same things over and over. My husband and I recently had a conversation about meals and he said, “I like your cooking, but maybe we could eat something besides chicken?” That pretty much sums it up.
How has your cooking routine changed recently?
It’s become so much easier and so much more fun. I’m not at all good at meal planning so having Cooks Smarts plan and make a shopping list for me has been life changing.
“Cook Smarts has helped me rediscover my love of cooking again and amazingly, my entire family is loving it.”
What recent kitchen accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of getting my husband who is not an adventurous eater, my picky three year old and my one year old excited about (and loving!) new things. My husband is pretty boring when it comes to food; he would eat steak and potatoes every day if he could. My three year old is your typical picky three year old who would eat PB&J every day if she could, and my one year old is really just learning all about food.
Cook Smarts has helped me rediscover my love of cooking again and amazingly, my entire family is loving it. My husband and kids are eating new (and healthy!) things and really liking them. As a mom of young children, it is important to me to foster healthy eating habits as well as an interest in a variety of food.
What advice would you give to other home cooks that want to cook more?
Find a recipe that looks amazing or fun to make and just make it. Cook Smarts gives you some great tools. I’ve never made chicken cordon bleu in my life so having a fun quick video that demonstrates how to make it is awesome.
